The author, the publisher, the faculty members, the library and students can all be accommodated. The author of course is accommodated with profits in everyway possible as well as the publisher. Faculty members get to use the information thanks to the publisher, and author who allow the information to be public and useful. The library is allowed to make such information more available to students who buy or use the text which adds profit to everyone above.

A fair arrangement can be achieved by maybe evenly distributing the text or information to the publisher, schools, students, libraries and so forth.

The challenges in creating a fair arrangement for everyone is that there will not always or rarely be a perfect and equal amount of demand for information, text, novels etc. that are completed and published.

Unfortunately, the author is not accommodated with profits in every way possible. Authors actually receive very little, especially these days, unless they are a big blockbuster author like John Grisham or Tom Clancy. Most authors get very, very little these days.
ReplyDeleteAs for book buyers--libraries, faculty, students, others--the cost of books is rising to the point where it is very difficult for them to purchase the book (just look at the price of your textbooks). The problem is that the publisher often doesn't make much either. There is a big challenge in pricing a book in the first place and also in figuring out how many are likely to be sold so only that number are produced.
